Looking for advice on heater core in carb manifold

Post

hi

I have just taken my car out of storage to put back on road for summer. Put a new batt. On and went to top up the water. As I filled the water it just poured out of the side of the manifold that the carb sits on top off. I don't remeber taking anything out. But having looked into it and asked the question on Facebook vw golf mk1 owners club. And I have been advised that it may be the heater core ? Can't find a lot on Google about it. So hoping someone on here can help.

ill try to upload some picks but hoping someone can tell me what I need to do to fix it. I asked on gsf for a heater core. And they need a part number or something. But as far as I know. With what I'm looking at I don't have some so I can't give them anything.

Il try to get some pics up. But any help would be great.

When my core plug went on my landrover I just removed it and took it to gsf and they found a match maybe you could try that

Which bit of the core plug. As it looks like there sold be something that screws into the hole that I'm pointing at. Also like item two in the diagram. Or is it within the manifold and I can't actually see it ??

The core plug are on the engine block they hold the coolant in. They can be a threaded bolt or a barrel there a normally brass or aluminium. I would say if you have a hole there it's a plug that pop out as the threaded bolt would still be there

Right ok. Cuz the water is coming out where I'm pointing. And there is a thread there you can feel. So I would need to take the manifold off then to get to the core ?
