Hit a fox/small bear. Gear linkage housing damaged

Bit of advice please

Hi guys I just posted in the classifieds hoping to find a couple of parts but need some advice on the situation as well. I hit a dead fox on the motorway and luckily it missed the front bumper but smashed into the sump and also appears to have damaged the housing/boot and cap under the gearstick. Was wondering if I could run it for a couple of journeys with it in its current state? Hopefully you can click the links I've included. Damn foxes

Looks like the tin heat shield has bent a bit and the plastic disc (no. 8) has popped out. Bend heat shield back out of the way and get a replacement plastic disc, they just pop in.

Most have already gone AWOL, will be OK to run it until you locate a replacement.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

You could get the plastic disc (8) from VW a couple of years ago so they might still be avaible?
As already said the metal heat shield should just bend back in to shape.

Thanks a bunch dudes. I wasn't too worried about the heat shield. More so on sourcing the parts. And making sure there was actually a part missing.
Gear linage is on the list of stuff to do so I'll get it all done then. Thanks again :-)

Did you ever manage to get part number (7)? I'm looking for one just now and struggling to find it
