Gear linkage adjustment

Post

Hi all, haven't posted on here in a while but I need some guidance / advice on how to adjust my gear linkage.

I've just managed to get the mk1 back on the road after fuel tank was rotten, it's alway this time of year as the mk1 lives under a cover for most of the year and prep for the AGM gets her out and I usually find another problem.

I had had an issue with the clutch pressure plate a couple of years ago and since fixing it, I've had problems getting in to 1st gear. All the other gears are fine. When I come to a stop and try to engage 1st, I have to either really push over towards reverse or back in to second then forward in to 1st.

All the gears were perfect before I had the pressure plate issue and now I'm driving it again, this is really annoying me!

Any help is very much appreciated 😉

Your cable may have stretched (there is an adjuster at the gearbox end) or your linkages may be tired……I am used to the old "2nd then 1st" motion :)

funk-star has all the linkage bits in kits or individually, he is the guy to speak to :)

Defo not clutch cable, it's virtually brand new.
