funny noise :'(

Post

Not entirely sure how to explain it, but it sounds like something rattling or pinging about like a ball bearing or something when im going slowly, it slows down and speeds up with the speed im goong really and stops when i do.

Ive jacked the car up and spun the wheels and theres no noise :/ i think its coming from the front drivers side.

Just really annoying as ive got a show tomorrow and although i havent noticed any problems driving it just sounds really stupid and i dont want my wheel to fall off going down the motorway :(

Pleaaase help if youve had this before -_-

does it stop when you turn left or right, I had a similar noise when driving in a straight line but would stop when I turned in one direction, it turned out to be a front outer cv joint.

No just tried rolling ot a bit and it was still making it whilst turning :(

Did it stop when you tirned either way or only when you turned one way?

Sorry it was my outer bearing that was making the noise not the cv joint, it stopped when I turned to the left so I changed the Right side front bearing and that cured my problem.

Have you tried jacking the front up and spinning the wheels to see if it makes the noise on just one side. Mine would only make the noise when being driven so was I bit of a pain to track down.

It doesnt seem to be making it at all when its in the air :/

On a side note the gearbox appears to be leaking as well, this day gets better and better haha

Mine sounded like a some one tapping a tin drum if you know what i mean, it would speed up and slow down with the acceleration of the vehicle and dissapear if i turned to the left.

Did anything appear loose when you had the wheels jacked up.

I am no expert and do not want to point you in the wrong direction so to speak and i am sure some one here with more knowledge can guide you further.

Have you checked the gearbox oil level?
and any play in the output joints?

Dont let it develop though, could get expensive if its serious  O_o

good luck

Do it once and do it right! ok, we've identified the problem, lets not make it worse by guessing……… Identifying the sympton is not the same as understanding the cause :)
