A good sach clutch has never let me down on a near stock Kr.

What mild mods have you done?

Skim, port and polish head, 264 Deg Inlet /258 Deg Exhaust kent cams, 81.5mm pistons a pair of dellorto 40dhla and a 6y gearbox (4,25 finaldrive).
I have already had a sach clutch but didn't last long.

Maybe a stage 1 black diamond or similar?

I've not had any experience personally.

My old 16v setup was ported Kr head, bike carbs, megajolt, 9a bottom end and 4-2-1 ran that on an 02a with Sachs clutch was ok

Current 16v is Kr with twin 45's and an 8v box but I can't comment on what clutch is in as I bought it converted.

I've got a nearly new paddle clutch kit that might be just the job for you?

It's only done about 500 miles but I've changed to an 02A box with G60 flywheel so it's no longer needed.

Can PM you pics etc if you're interested

+1 - I've been running 210mm Sachs flywheel and clutch kits on all my modded Golfs so far and never had an issue.

what torque  are you putting out do you think, and also what size clutch kit did you use, and was it definitely the power that killed it rather than an oil leak?

even std sachs kits can handle lots of torque, lookign at 250Nm std:

I don't believe its an oil leak that killed it because I change the oil crank seal 6 months ago.
I use 210mm std sach clutch disc with luk pressure plate.
I don't know what torque I am putting out.
The clutch start slipping in 4 and 5 gear when accelerating hard and now it slips in 2-3-4-5 gear.

It could be the oil seal on the gearbox input shaft that's failing? This happened to me once many years ago on a 16v mk2 and gave those symptoms

aye or the pushrod bush is worn, this kills the pushrod seal. best to do all 3 when you do an engine swap.

no way a mildly tuned kr should be able to kill a sachs clutch anyway, I'm running one on my abf with 166bhp and 150 torques, no problem at all ;)
