Clutch cable options

Post

Ive never liked having the clutch cable on my small block 1.3 run across the valve cover to the gearbox and since changing my engine to one from a polo the clutch cable is in the way even more and rubs on the bonnet taking off paint and breaking the cable. So now that it needs changing i was wondering if i could replace it with a polo one that might run behind the engine or is there another way of making it work better? ideally i would like to fit a hydrolic clutch one day but that would mean messing about with the pedal boxes and stuff which i really dont want to have to do!

What have other people done to de-clutter the engine bay? im sure im not the only person that has wanted to do this before but i cant find anything anywhere on the subject!

Cheers,
Matt

Can you get it in front of the block and secure it? I ran mine that way on a 16v, you could try behind the block on small block and secure with P clips?

I ran a 1.3 cable on my last valver and was plenty long enough  get a pic up…

it would be too close to the exhaust manifold in front i think and i dont knwo if it would stretch that far, might be able to try behind, but i seem to remember when i removed a gearbox from a mk2 polo that their clutch cable was backwards which allowed the cable to enter from behind so i might look into getting one of those cables and seeing

Typically my head is off being machined so i cant grab a picture but ill take on when its back together on wednesday
