Brake wire torn, which part?

My brake wire is torn quite close to the brake lever. It's a 1982 Golf C tin top. My question before ordering ny wire:
Does this wire split into two wires, is there a metal piece underneath the car where the wires from the back wheels are connected to only one wire running the last stage to the brake lever?
When searching for parts, I find only one type of wire, which I guess fits both sides.
But is this what I need, or is there another part I haven't found?

do you mean the handbrake cable to the rear brakes? there should be 1 cable per side to each rear brake
