Brake compensator regulator valve adjustment

is there a guide anywhere on how to do this?  I had a look in my haynes manual and it says its a vw only job :lol:is the adjustment on the valve itself or do you adjust the bolt the spring attaches to on the elongated hole/slot on thaxel bracket?

if this is the case which direction does what?

When its all together its quite obvious, the theory being more weight in the rear (which requires more braking) compresses the suspension and the spring pulls on the compensator lever, which opens the valve to let more fluid/pressure through. I guess the starting point depends on the level you run the car...

il put it roughly in the middle and drive carefully until i find a quiet test road

so there is o adjustment on the actual valve itself?

None that i recall, dont actually have one at the moment..

There isn't any adjustment on the valve itself. I'm not sure exactly how you set it up. Might be something in the Haynes about it. If you don't have one I can take a look later on today.

i already looked in the haynes and it says adjustment should be left a vw service agent as special tools are required
to be fair, somethings are best left alone especially when they are rusty  :lol:

is there a basic function test i can do before fitting?

So, as a heating engineer i used some common sense, blowing through the inlets at high pressure (full lung capacity) whilst closing the valve indicates a change in sound coming out of the inlets..

i guess it kinda works   :lol:
