rota bm8's
I'm looking to put some ROTA BM8 on my mk1, i am looking to use wide tyres for performance base, wondering if anyone is running 15x8J wheels, with a tyre width greater than 215.
if so what ride height did you have to set it to and were there any mods required to get them to fit?
thanks in advanced

I'm running 195/50,s on my 8 inch rims eta of 20 without any modification and 70mm drop. Personally I think 195's are wide enough. If you want to improve stock traction/ cornering then fit strut braces, solid mounts with camber adjustment

have you got any pictures of what it looks like? I am running about 250 bhp with ambitions of increasing it, so would like more contact to the road, which is why I am after a wider tyre

I'm driving a mk2 scirocco at the mo but had the same wheels on my mk1 cab. Other factors to consider are et and brakes. As I'm using 256mm 16v with no spacers but with the 280mm calipers the wheels foul against the calipers which then need spacing 20mm which moves them further out of the arches. plus I'm sure it's an mot fail if your wheels protrude beyond the arches. So with 215 the tyres will stick out quiet a bit and rub on the arches and may rub on the shocks or rub when turning. You would end up having wide arches with spacers

as long as the wheel is a 15inch alloy they should clear my brakes, problem i have is the et on the rota's are et10 and so will be inline with the outside edge of the arches. the whole wheel moves 40mm outboard from the current wheel position and the inboard edge moves 15mm outboard as well, so the suspension strut shouldn't be a problem, as its moving away from it, only problem i have is the arch and like you said when turning it might rub, i just don't want to spend a fortune on the wheels to find they don't fit.
ideally i would want the et to be around 20 but i don't think they do that wheel with that et
anyone got a spare set of 15x8's with any ET they could bring to the AGM for me to test fit!?
