Are there any new off the shelf full kits to renew my front brakes on my 1.1?
I don't want anything big and silly, maybe 239mm discs and new calipers and carriers etc.
I don't want to go down the route of collecting old worn out mish mash bits and bobs.

You should have solid 239mm discs up front already. You can run the 239 vented discs from an early GTI with the GTI brake pads (they're thinner to account for the thicker disc).
You can find a set of Scirocco 16V knuckles with Girling 54s and 256mm discs.
You can get an adapter from Epytec to move your stock caliper outward and run 256mm discs with GTI pads.

I think your car will have the smaller square brake pads with the early callipers, getting some later VWII callipers which have the larger pads will help with stopping.
Early type calliper with smaller pads.

Thanks guys.
Yeah mark mine has the early ones with tiny pads.
I was kinda hoping I'd be linked some new age full kit with everything brand new, like Wilwood or someone.
But I guess some excellent condition later gti calipers and the relevant bits would work too… last time sourced used parts tho, it was all carp and needed rebuild and drilling out of bleed nipples etc…. Wanted to avoid all that malarkey.

You could try Bigg Red, they might do remanufactured vw11 calipers. They are a very helpful bunch. They may take your calipers as pert-ex
