Webber carb, throttle cable

hello all just fitted new Webber carb to my driver
when you cut end off old cable and thread it through new brass cable tube , do you put that in the screw bit and crush it to hold it
or just secure the cable into the screw bit, as was out earlier and cable piped out and just secured onto cable not brass bit as hard to crush

any help would be good
