VW Heritage Mk1 GTi stainless exhaust manifold

Post

Anybody got one fitted?

I've asked on here before about a suitable stainless exhaust manifold to fit my Mk1 1.8 8v GTi.  The VW Heritage one seems to have sold quite a few (based on it going out of stock a number of times when I am looking), but I have not managed to get an answer from Heritage on whether this has been designed for a RHD car and hence it gets away from the normal close-running to the steering joint rubber boot.

Has anybody on here actually bought and fitted one of the VW Heritage 8v stainless manifolds and can they confirm how close it runs to the rubber boot?  Any other general comments on the quality & fit would be good too.  I am hoping to have a Longlife exhaust mated up to whatever manifold I end up buying.

Thanks for any help
Peter

Sorry that I don't know the lingo…
Are you talking about a Stainless Steel Header, that is 4 Pipes coming off the head sown to either a 2 pipe or 4 pipe connection to the CAT or the Resonator?

As Manifolds to me are different than headers.

I can tell you from personal experience that there is no heat shielding on my Raceland Header, or on the Pacesetter I had.  Even my TT tuning Dual down pipe didn't have it.

I created a Heat Shield to Protect my Steering Rack, and tunnel.

I also bolted with Hose clamps a Aluminum  Sheet on both sides.  I have seen folks use the Pipe Tape on theirs….. But I have had good luck with Metal Shielding.

I have LHD and the Shielding seems to keep the power steering and CV's away from heat.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Yes Briano, when I say exhaust manifold I am referring to the header as you call it.  I might still use heat shielding, but would rather source a manifold that does not run so close to the steering joint boot on my RHD Mk1 GTi.

I'm still looking for options !!

I have one of these ready to go on, when my cars last emission passes.  (25 years and older don't need a CAT or emissions tests…)

I have installed this pacesetter one on my 90, and had to take it to an exhaust shop to Rosy red the tubes to Bend it to clear the Sway bar.

Here is a mk2Golf that I modified for a 2 to 1 down. (dual down)  but look at the original shielding it had.

Old License Plate made to shield the ps rack from the heat.  I added a plate on the front to shield the cv's.

what I did on my 4-2 tttuning dual down.

Just some ideas for you.
