Clipper cabrio - cutting out -sorry newbie

Post

hi all new member here, I've got the dreaded cabrio cutting out when warm. The car loses power
and grinds to a halt, it has a weber carb, new fuel lines installed, new fuel filter, new fuel lines, checked filler neck seems fine. There are air bubbles in the fuel lines which I think may be the problem and was wondering what the best way to get rid of these. I did also find some smal rust particles in the fuel in line filter so I baffled.

Please help

if you got rust in the fuel lines, to start with check/replace filler neck and clean fuel tank:
howto read vw wiring diagrams - Google Search

blow out the fuel lines before refitting to make sure all rust is removed, replace filter and all the rubber lines. the swirl pot might have rust in too so ideally replace it. you can bypass it short term, block the fuel return and put fuel pump direct to carb till you get one

also make sure the airbox warm air feed is ok:

finally once you get a new swirl pot if you find it goes back to original symptoms try a reducer in the fuel return line, a welding tip works well. sometimes the swirl pots have these missing
