I've been through so many previous forum posts trying to get enough info to fix this but I'm at a loss.
From cold start, turn it over, it runs for a few seconds then stalls. Turn it over, fires then stalls instantly, this time sounds like it's misfiring. Turn it over, foot fully down on the throttle it's catching but sounds like it misfiring a very lumpy, pop out the exhaust every now and again. Throttle fully down is the only way I can get it to start. Keep this going and it will eventually start, still a bit lumpy until it's cleared. Then it will run, stop and start absolutely fine.
I've replaced all injectors, cold start injector, thermo timing switch, warm up regulator, dizzy cap, arm, lead and plugs. Still the same problem.
Anyone else come across this type of problem before? Or any idea what I can check next?
Thanks.
Garry.

I had similar symptoms , Ross sorted it in the end. Turned out to be the metering head
Mk1 2l TSR G60. .getting. There twice as fast
Mk1 lhd diesel…….getting. There for half the cost

The holding the throttle open just helps the excess petrol in the cylinders to clear and eventually each one will start to fire again as you have found.
As a test disconnect the electrical connector to the cold start valve and see if the cold start improves, this will reduce the fuel for the cold start.
Next get hold of a pressure gauge and measure the cold control pressure that the warm up reg is giving.
As Jim said you then need to be thinking about the metering head, it could be that the little pressure sensors are worn and giving too much fuel for a given pressure difference, hence the poor start flooding. I think Dano got his refurbed recently. I would take the metering pin out and clean it / inspect for the dreaded rust.

I suffered with it for about 3 years. Then I changed the metering head for a second hand one from funk-star and fingers crossed it seems to have fixed the issue.
Try lifting the 'bellow' in the metering head while someone cranks the engine and see if it starts. That could be a good indicator that the metering head is goosed.

Yeah there is a strong petrol smell.
I'll get the metering head off at the weekend and take a look. I'll probably get a spare too. The injection systems really are a mine field! I have a lot of spare parts now that I might need in the future :-)
I also been suffering with this one for years, it's got to that point now it needs to get sorted.

I think the whole kjet system needs properly testing, which is probably beyond me. I'm in Kent, does anyone know of any specialists close by?
