Hi
Just wondering if someone can tell me if all mk1 1.8 GTI's(tintops) had the metal half/corner cover on the fuel tanks? (as per pic).
Thanks

Yes.  It is stuffed up on the corner to shield the Tank from Exhaust Pipe heat.

The Two tabs on the right of your picture usually have a rubber bit number 34a on them and Crimp down over the rear seam of the tank….

There is a rubber bung on the leading edge.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Bri does the rubber bit holding the heat shield to the tank act as a sump for the tank do you know saw it last night and wondered if it was attached from inside the tank thus creating a sump hole you can drain from? Ta
