Fuel Pump Issues ?

Hi all, my car has started playing up, under load the car cuts out like it is running out of fuel but the tank is full! when you pull over the fuel pump is very loud but if you turn off the car and restart it again, it is fine but once you try and pull away does it all again!  i am guessing its the fuel pump on the way out.  but any other ideas would really appreciate it.

Edit* the vehicle in question is a 1988 mk1 cab with 1.8DX engine

I had issues with my fuel pump not creating enough fuel pressure and it was also loud but no running problems although mines a 20vt.

I've a spare new fuel pump 😉

lifter pump inside the tank may have packed in, start there

Yeah ill best have a look at that lifter pump this weekend
i know the car has been sat for some time before getting its mot so i hoping it might be some old fuel or rust blocking the pumps or something.
