fuel lines from/to tank, pump and pressure accumulator

Hello,

i have a 1.6 1981 GTI fuel injection mk1

i am replacing the engine with 1.8 twin 40 DCOE's engine. just curious about fuel lines, pump etc.

fuel lines can i get rid of the return fuel line that was attached to the metering head? And just plug it off at the tank?

Can i run a facet fuel pump or similar off the exciting fuel pump electrics (obviously I’ll be getting rid of the standard fuel pump)?

Also can I bypass the pressure regulator and get rid of it all together as I’m guessing this was only needed for the K-jet system?

I will be putting in a fuel king filer and regulator before the carbs.

So can It go fuel tank to uprated fuel pump to pressure regulator/filter to webers?

Sorry if this doesn’t really make sense hard to describe it.

Don't know alot about upgrades but I think you will still need a return to fuel tank line as my Carb feed mk1 still has a return to tank fuel line.

My friends just done this in a mk2, with a abf. So probably similar.

He's used a electric pump, hidden in the scuttle, to the regulator then into carbs.

He's also blocked off the return.

hope thats of use.

Mk1 Jetta. Soon to be running bonkers Mtdi
