Hello guys just need so opinions regarding fuel filters, there are a few makes of filters that I have seen, valco, £7.00, coppers £18.00, Bosch £12, what one would you go for and does it matter about the name or is the quality of each maker different also which one you guys will recommend, this is my second service, since.i had the car, I will be using quantum oil, vw oil filter, Mann air filter, and I'm.stuck on the fuel filter, all help appreciated and if you guys use anything that is better please let me know thanks again

I've been around the "trade" enough years I think to comment here. I've just changed the fuel filter on my "Golf" GTI its done 110k and whilst it was obvious that the unit had been changed in the past I couldn't find any reference to it in the paperwork going back to the early 1990's. The filter that was on was a "Mann" (OE suppliers to many European manufacturers I believe). The filter that's on now is a Fram. It fits fine (came with new sealing washers). At the end of the day a filter is a filter, as long as its of decent robust quality the price is often variable, depending upon supplier….. its also arguable that some filters are manufactured by the same "parent" company with various names later applied !

Is yours the bigger or smaller filter, what year is your car?
I stick with Mann filters.

I'd say mine is the "large" filter bigger say than your average tin of beans ??? Surprising in a way for the volume of fuel that will "go through" it. … I have another car (one of those from Coventry with a cat on the bonnet) it has a 4 litre engine and the filter is a third of the size …
Mann filters yep I "do" them … Its all down to cost and availability for me. …

Mine's is a 1.8 I believe, a 1989 GTI Cabriolet.
I've had more fun in this car since I've owned it in early May than I've had in a car in over 30 years !
