Hi guys
i have a mk1 gti 1.6.
I am looking for a fuel filter for it.
any idea what part number would be?
Could anyone recommend the best place to buy online?
I have been struggling locally!!

I used EuroCarParts for mine, you can chose from the Crossland one which I did or more expensive Bosch.

I am a mechanic and already 3 times I found Crossland is rubbish!!!
Never again. Trust me. Air filter ok but no fuel. Bosch, Mann filters only.

There is a couple of types of filter, do you have a picture of yours?

When I release the filter from both ends will waste full just start spilling ? Just want an idea before I release it!!

You have the early smaller type filter I think they used them up to 1982 ish.
Yes you will get petrol coming out the filter when you undo it so have a cloth underneath it to catch the petrol then use the cloth to clean the engine/engine bay as petrol is a great cleaner! The fuel is under high pressure so be carful of petrol spraying out when you 1st undo the joint.
You will need 4 new washers, 2 each end to make sure it seals again.
I also drain the fuel out of the filter at the filtered end and pour it back in to a can.
