Fitting a mk2 carb onto mk1 engine

Hello dub dudes, my carb seized on my mk1 clipper cabby, a local scrappy had another pierburg 2e carb whick ive now bought, however ive realised the carb is off a mk2 golf 1.6 automatic. My car is a 1.8 manual. the carb looks the same but a few items will need swapping over to get it to fit my car, ie the 3/4 point unit is a little different, the throttle link is totally different and some other bits may need doing. My question is if i do all these, does it matter that its a 1.6 carb going onto a 1.8 engine? The base is exactly the same and just bolts onto the manifold like the old one did.

all of the above plus the jets will need changing over, your best bet is keep the basic carb as is and just test all the bits that bolt on too see which bits work on the 1.8 and swap those over for any broken parts on the 1.6 carb.

either way you'll want to fully check over the 1.8 carb before you do anything as no telling if its actually any better than the old one

start here, check everything top to bottom:

Thats great chers dude. I can't see the link as I'm not a member of clubgti but I'll get signed up. I've already bought another carb off one of the blokes on here so hopefully it will just go on with no running problems. I tried to swap over the bits but couldn't get any of the nuts/bolts or screws to move on my old carb :(
