Do Mk1's have a lift pump in the tank?

Question as above. Do Mk1’s have a lift pump in the tank. I’m doing a V5 conversation in my Mk1 caddy and was thinking of using a Mk1 fuel pump but I’m unsure if there’s a lift pump in the tank? And whether or not this pump would be suitable?

Tin top fuel injection cars don't have lift pumps.
1984 ish onwards fuel injection cabriolets with the larger 55l fuel tank (they have a thin space saver spare wheel) should have a lift pump.

Carburettor cars don't need a lift pump so they are not fitted.

Sorry don't know any info if it's suitable for a V5 conversion..

So do I need 2 pumps or could I get away with one and a filter?

If your tank doesn't have a lift pump then yes you'll need one.

Then an external pump and swirl pot.

mk1 lifter wont fit a caddy tank, but you can use an aftermarket pump as a pre-supply. somethign like a facet pump same as what carb guys use when deleting the mechanical fuel pump will do. hook that up to a swirl pot bottom connection, run return from engine and back to tank to the top connections on the pot and main pump to the middle connection jobs a goodun
