Window issues?

Post

Hi all, was driving my cabby earlier and undid the window and couldn't get the thing to go back up! Had to drive it home in the rain with the drivers side window fully down! And it was raining which didn't help and I got soaked, nightmare! Haven't had a chance to do much investigation and even if I did I'm unsure I could even find the problem. All I know is when I press the switch for the window I hear a clicking in the dashboard (relay or something maybe? I dont know?) and I think it has affected the passenger side as well but didn't want to mess about too much because having one window open all night is enough for me ☹️ Please help! I am currently keeping rain out with bricks, bin bags and tape! Any help is appreciated, cheers!

I don't know much about electric windows as I've got manual windows but the first thing with any thing electrical is check the fuse then check to see if there is power getting to the motor, you will need to remove the door card to do this.
if there is power getting to the motor then motor may be worn out, if there is no power at the motor trace the wires and look for any breaks I would look at the door opening 1st as I've had speaker wire break in there before as the door is opened and closed it bends the wire.
If you don't know what you are doing and don't have time as the car is outside then I would take it to an auto electrician and get them to check it over.
