LED lights into the MK2?

Post

Want to consult with you please

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, and I am from the Statres. The reason I've registered here is my British MKII. It is 1984, black.
It has got round lights, and I am extremely unhappy with the light output, because of the scratched and dimmed lens.
First I thought of a sort of restoration, but then gave up this idea, because of too much hassle I am not really happy about.
Now, I saw those round lights, you know, sealed beams, with the LED bulbs for high and low beams, and with the lenses to focus the light.
I haven't found anyone on the US MK2 forums who has installed LEDs into this VW. That's why decided to give it a try and ask you folks.
What do you think? Will they work okay with a sort of aged wiring of my MK2?
Has anyone experimented with LED lights for high and low beams on the VWs?
Thanks,
Jeffrey

Look up Daniel sterns lighting, he tells you how to relay the lamps to place a true battery voltage on the lense/bulb.

Yes that is what I would assume,,,,, similar to the ballast on HID.

Relaying your headlights is the way to go as VW set up the current runs all the way to the light switch then off to the headlights and you lose a lot of current going that far on old wiring.
