Toggle switch wiring for headlights

Post

Hello,

i've had my 93 cabriolet for 8 months now and since I bought it I have had 3 different instrument clusters all of which has had one or more parts not working. After trying to take different parts from each cluster to make 1 working cluster and failing, I gave up and have started to make an mdf dash insert.

at the moment I am trying to find out how to wire in a toggle switch to control the side lights and the headlights. I bought a toggle switch from here: Knurled Ring Toggle Switch Off-On-On 3 Position

i am struggling, even after reading a post on here by rubjonny: http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=electrics_2%2Fanyone-replaced-hazard

can anyone tell me what wires should go where on this toggle switch if anyone knows?

Cheers guys

(ps I have managed to wire the rest of the switches and so far, somehow they all work!

ok so looking at that, it has 2 separate circuits either side of the switch am i right? then the pole on its own on both sides is input power, the middle one is position 1 and end is position 1+2? some kind of wiring diagram would be ideal.

if its as above, 1 side put the red to the input, and the other side put the black/yellow. middle pin on the red wire side put the sidelights grey/red and grey/black, plus the plate lights grey/green wire and the grey/blue dash lights.

then finally put the white/black to the outside pin on the black/yellow wire side

grey wire if there you'll have to ignore, and note your dash lights will now no longer be fuses now you have removed the headlight switch. brown wire is also no longer used
