How to?
I'm helping a fellow member from the club with a few issues on his Golf.
He was blowing fuses associated with the interior fan/blower (the fan that sits in the scuttle).
I have found that it was seized and after much WD40 I can only get it to turn a small amount with a fair bit of pressure so it will need replacing.
I did see someone post a little while back that it is possible to remove the fan unit from above. .
Please could someone let me know the process.
Thanks
Dan

There was a big argument ages ago about whether it possible from above or you had to remove most the interior and dash and do it from inside the cabin.
I have done from above, remove plastic rain tray, remove wipers (3 x 10mm nuts?) remove the couple bolts holding the plastic leaf basket and blower and then juggle the blower out. It is a bit of a krypton factor challenge but it can come out from above.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

The is a post with picks in the "how to" section that I used last week. A bit fiddly to split to cover and wiggle the pieces out but probably only an hour job.

when i did this i drowned either end where I suspected the bushes were with lots of proper penetrating oil (not wd40, this isnt what it is for!!) and kept wiggling the fan blades back and forward till I felt it free up some.
next I jumped the fan motor itself with 12v straight from a battery bypassign the resistor unit, to stop it blowing fuses and provide the motor with maximus power (keep an eye on power wire and disconnect if getting hot!) then as its spinning spray more penetrating oil at the bearings till the motor is spinning up lovely and fast. once happy, drown the bearings with silicone spray lube while it is running to lube it up nice

Getting it out the top is easy enough if the unit is scrap. Getting a new unit in from the top whilst not breaking it proved too difficult for me so I removed the dash and did it from below.

Just removed the fan assembly on mine, pretty easy to do from engine bay, fan was seized just sprayed up and ran directly from battery. Another one crossed off the ever growing list of jobs to do!!!
