The rear window no longer desteams. I have double checked with an electric tester that there is a current going to the back window but not too sure why it doesn't desteam?

If you have 12V on one tab do you have 12V between the 12v tab and the ground tab? That is the other side of the window?
If not then your tabs may have come unglued. They make conductive glue for the tabs it is usually sold in a Permatex Professional Defroster Kit.
They also include a small vial of conductive paint to repaint broken lines.
Hint, the rear demister has as you are inside looking at it
12v+ on the right tab, and Ground on the left tab.
I have had 12V+ on the one side to frame, but the wire for the ground tab had become broken and I had no ground.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
