Rad fan coming on when the car is off

Post

Hi,

My rad fan seems to be working correctly will come on when up to temp and then go off again but I have notice that sometimes the rad fan will come on when the car is not running and the ignition is off, e.g. the car is just reaching temp then the engine is turned off, ignition off then the fan will come on for 30 seconds or so then go off, this only happens if the car is up to temp, is this how it is intended to work or is it wired wrong somewhere?

Thanks

Yep that's normal when the engine is hot, if you do hear the fan running when you park it's better to leave the engine to idle till the fan stops as the water pump is still running.

sounds liek its coming on too early, fan should run around 3/4 on the gauge not when its just getting up to temp.

check if its got the rad fan after-run system fitted, if so theres a thermoswitch near the inlet or on the carb. make sure the wire on it hasnt fallen off and earthing out
