OEM Cigarette lighter

After a dash fire caused by the illumination circuit I have replaced the dash wiring loom.  I now have all of the original connectors.  The connector for the cigarette lighter does not fit the socket that is fitted to the car.  I dont want to cut the wires and put spade connectors on so it will fit.  I would rather find a cigarette socket that has the correct connector on the back that will fit the new harness.

I recently bought a new socket for my T4 which had a connector on the back.  I cant remember what it looked like but it was a 3 pin plug an play thing similar to the on in the mk1.  Not sure one will fit.  I dont fancy pulling the one out of the T4 dash to try it as it was a complete knacker to get in and out.

I have found this which is the same as the one for the T4 but it hasn't got the mk1 listed but it has the mk2, 3 and 4 plus a load of other VW's

Can anyone point me in the direction of one for the mk1?

Well I have just been looking on vagcat.com and found the following

The cigarete lighter on the mk1 is listed as part no: 1J0919307
The 3pin connector on the Mk1 is listed as: Flat contact housing part no: 191919321

The T4 is listed as the same!

Looks like they used the same lighter socket for the whole range.

i think what it could be is you are missing the short run of loom between the dash connector and the ciggy lighter?

I bought a new section which is the short bit between the main loom and the lighter.  I think the lighter is an aftermarket one as it's got individual spade connections on the back and not a connector that matches the piece of loom.  I ordered the one above and hopefully it will fit the loom.

Can anyone give me some tips to get my old lighter out of the ashtray and refit the new one? It's proving to be a blighter!!
