how about a 1600gti 1980? :) same diagram?

pretty much yeah, if you have the later style dash :)

if you have the early one then use golfwiring79gti.pdf. only thing to note is the gti diagram shows the 'too hot' and 'too cold' sensor/warning lights, if yours has the normal temp gauge use the g1wiring79.pdf for the coolant temp sensor/gauge wiring :)
