MFA - 4 pin stalk connector, white wire(mode?)

Post

Hello people, I am having some issues with my MFA, the "mode" does not work, I think this issue is related to my white wire on the 4 pin connector.

I do not have the wiring diagram for this car, it's a 1992 cabriolet 2H.
Does someone knows where this white wire goes? I did find that 2 of them go direct to the cluster, 1 goes to the Earth(I think side of the engine), but this white one I was not able to find
I did find where the other 3 wires go and they are good, this white one, I was not able to test it properly.

Everything in the car works perfect except the MFA, no other issues anywhere.
The stalk circuit, is tested and good(I have opened the stalk, inspect\cleaned all contacts), also the 3 other wires, I tested them and are good.
I really apreciate the suppoort.

Thanks Dano, actually I have read that already, even before I had any issues, very interesting topic, thanks for sharing with everyone!

Hey, could you elaborate on how you fixed this please?
Thanks,

Hello Ben, the fixing its actually the easy part, but the really hard part was diagnosing the Root cause of the problem, I tested the wiring to the stalk, I have tested and refurbished the stalk contacts, then tested the tacho harness and conector and made some repairs there(fixed the springs on the terminais), tested the tacho foil line by line(also made repairs there), and then at the end I have tested the components at the mfa board, and found that One of the transistors was not ok, it was the One with the test lead in the picture above, took a lot of time to find it, to replace it, its like a 5minute job, but the rest was like 16hour job at least, because i did everything piece by piece.
Some people are lucky and its just a loose connection, my case I had to make many steps till finding the cause

Sheeesh. I'm very much on the beginners side of any of the wiring / electrical bits so I can't say that I'd be able to chase it down to such detail.

Here's the thread I revived when my issue started (originally rev counter now MFA).

Maybe it sparks some thoughts / similarities when you read through.

Thanks for getting back to me,
Ben

Your problem looks very similar to mine(mfa), you still have the time watch but the Arrow for the modes is missing.
My issue was strange, from time to time the mfa stopped to work, only the watch, then the defect became permanent.
To test the transistors you need a multímeter, and the test is easy:
How to test a TRANSISTOR with a multimeter PNP or NPN MF#63 - YouTube

If you measure the 3 transistors, they should have similar values, they are the same model, in my case, 2 were good and One damaged.

My personal tip, if you know someone who knows how to repair, I think there's an user here called Nate, I would go for that, sadly, in my country I dont know anyone like him, and due to brexit it would be complicated to me to send/recieve parts from Uk, because if I had that chance I would go for it no doubt.

I hope this is not against fórum rules, but I have posted in another fórum this issue, and again, Nate's name came as a good referente, you can search for his work, he does make a lot of very interesting topics.
