A warm welcome to you from the Club up there in Norway!  ;)

As for answering your question.
I'm not sure if there is an exact answer to that.

It would be my guess that they were mostly Hella but I could be wrong.
So let's wait and see what others have to say.

Personally mine has 4 Hella's fitted from new so I will only replace them with originals when needed.

I already have to Headlamps and two spot-lamps spare!

both are OEM manufacturers of these lamps. sometimes you see saturnus as well, but might only be mk2 golf or later mk1.

hella would be my preference :)

That would be a Hellav'a choice.  :)

I have Ciebie rounds with h5 bulbs, and as far as it goes,  I have Silverstar Ultras on one of my Cabbies, and it doesn't matter which type you install, with Stock wiring you will not get the best out of any bulb unless you install relays for them.  why? Because you get higher voltage to the bulb which means higher output from the lamps, the difference is Night and Day.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

All my later mk1's 81,82,83 had hella units.

My 74 original headlights were Bosch, which surprised me… Bit of useless info, but there you go.  :offtopic:
