Electric window switch help needed

Post

Hi all,

My drivers side electric window switch has packed up and I need to find a replacement. The only problem is that I believe the windows to be part of an aftermarket electric window upgrade.

The switch is marked up as Ansor Brevet which I think I have found online, but only in Australia and they need a minimum order of $100 and May not even ship to the UK. The switch is 6 pin.

Can anyone help with a used example, recommendation for a supplier or a similar alternative?

Cheers
RFD

Never looked at the back of mine but they look the same as what's fitted to Mk2 Golfs when I had one a few years ago.

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Also look like corrado.  Maybe try OE and solder to the pins as per yours?

looks like aftermarklet kit ones, genuine corrado/cabrio ones wont work as they are designed for use with the 1 touch control brain.

mk2 golf switches will not fit the mk1 console, but they do work the same way. I think I have one of these in my stash, only trouble is i cant tell you if it is working or not!

Cheers Rubjonny.

Are you willing to part with it? It's got to be worth a try from my point of view.

I guess the alternative is to return the car to standard window winders.

Looks like an 'Electric-life' aftermarket kit, spare switches are part number 4910-10-201… Google brings up quite a few hits to check for availability / best price.

The link below just happened to have close-up images, there's others.

I love this forum, 24 hours after posting and 4 decent suggestions/offers of help.

Thanks to you all. I'm going to start by attempting to repair the existing switch and if that fails then I'll give Rubjonny and/or Golfman a shout.

Thanks guys.

not sure on those electric life ones, they look a bit bigger and probably only fit mk2 or other cars, the mk1/corrado ones are an odd shape and as you can see above the edge of the switch is flush with the opening it has to clip into

electrically though it should work fine mind, the plug on th rear looks the same as my mk2 golf electric life kit which was your bog standard high current switch which powers the motor direct

I thought I'd post an update (as I get frustrated when people ask for help them don't post the results of trying out the suggestions!)

The switch was easily opened by releasing four pins in the sides. Once it was opened up it was obvious that one of the springy metal contacts had slipped out of place. After a bit of fiddling by a friendly knowledgablecolleague (for the price of a few beers) he managed to get it to sit back in its proper location. He then soldered new cables for me to make it easy to fit bullet connectors back into the original wiring.

Result of that… SUCCESS!!!

Only problem now is I seem to have stopped the electric roof from working :(
I'm hoping it's just a fuse somewhere or even that I've dislodged some wiring behind the switch… The saga continues!!

Ok don't laugh… I'd left the tonneau cover on, which thanks to a search on past threads I now know has a cut out! Oops!!

All working perfectly now and I'm happy again. Thanks to you all for taking the time to help.
