See title - my golf has the standard fan and a three speed switch - I saw the four speed switch has the same terminal fittings - if I fit a four speed switch to the three speed wiring loom/motor, will it work flawlessly, or do I risk melting a fuse/wire/etc?
Be nice to get extra fan speed out of the motor, but don't wanna risk melting anything!

no you won't get more speed from a 4 speed switch you will just have 2 off positions, 0 and 4.

haha okay, that answers that then Two off positions does sound nice though, less distance to turn it off when I'm at speed 3!

I already have a 4 speed switch - Off, 1, 2, 3
As briano1234 said it won't spin the motor any faster as position 3 is full speed, 1 and 2 are reduced by the resistor.
