90A or 65A Alternator

Post

I'm trying to get hold of an original Bosch alternator to get my engine bay back to standard,

I'm pretty sure my 1983 1.8 GTi Tintop would have had a 65A Bosch alternator, but struggling to find one, I can see a few 55A and 90A on ebay and wondering if these would be suitable or if they would cause any issues?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Tony

55 maybe, but 90…Oh what a feeling.  More power, more power, that is if you have the correct connection.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

So a 90a wouldn't cause any problems then?
(Presuming it has the correct connections. )

My local Auto Sparky told me I could go to a 90a Alternator without any problems.

Yep, the 90 was put in auto's for the 90's because of the electric windows, a/c, heated seats, and such.

If you don't have those then you will have more power to run a 400gigawatt sub amp, and not have any issues :)

Great!
I'll be able to cut some holes in my pristine parcel shelf and fill it with speakers!
Thanks for the info!
