DSC_0952.JPG     Hi there have just stripped down my golf mk1 cabriolet 1992 steering column to refit new bearings.
ive got 171419517b bearing down the very bottom
171419341 plastic surport up the top that runs inside the ignition switch bearing

i have a new 171419549 where should that be fitted or is it not used with my type of column ?
have attached a few pics showing where the bits were to.

should there be any spring down the bottom  ?

the tall plastic spacer 171419549 is not used on your car, its for earlier models without the spline adaptor on the end.

you should have a spring at the bottom, 481419343B assuming its a RHD. this fits between column and steering universal joint
