My Mk1 Golf 1.8 GTI 'F' reg does not have the classic red surround on the front grille… should it?

Only the tintops - they all had red grill trim. From memory the earlier cabby GTIs still had chrome?
Have a look in the brochure section - there should be one for your year and you can then see exactly how it should look

An F reg will have the later style one piece grille which doesn't have any red or chrome edging, unless you paint it on. The earlier pre 87ish grilles had clip on trim all around the development.

Thanks for confirming, it sounds like mine has the correct grille set up in that case. Are they all interchangeable?
Thanks
