Should I buy foam or get it made?
I spoke to an upholsterer this morning about repairing my drivers seat, which has worn on the bolster and the bottom outer bolster foam has worn and you can feel the bar through the cloth. I told him that the foam is available but expensive and he said that it's only worth buying if it's a genuine VW item or at least injection molded.
I just wondered if anyone has used the replacement foam from VWH and what quality it is or would I be better off getting him to make it.
Also wondering what others have done in the past.
Thabks. Matt.

Seat bolster repair advice needed.
Get one from an old passenger seat if you can. You know it will be a perfect fit and genuine.

I have how-to's on that in the Archive section below.
The new bolsters are expensive, and from what I hear pretty good replacements.
I had to repair mine before I re-covered my cars seats.
I used a thin line of gorilla glue and water to clue the side bolsters to the seat bottoms, then used new foam to repair the old ones…..inside and out….
They fit nicely.

The stuff from WERK34.de in Germany is good quality and fits really well.
I got their foam seat base and am very happy with it.

Thanks for the comments,

would it need to be a GTI seat or do you know if the foam is the same in all seats? Mine are series 2 red stripe seats.
andyphill I've had a look on WERK34.de and the prices are good, even with postage from Germany it's very reasonable.
