I've been thinking about my options for my interior of late ' its all in pretty good condition apart from the front driver's seat which is badly worn on the cushion and the door side cards which have had the usual speakers butchered in' ive read that the front seats from other VW may fit.
what are my options guys ?

There are replacement cover sets available, and yes any mk1 seat will swap over.
The mk2 seats and mk3 seats need to be modded to fir the mk1 rails.
The side cards tend to be more than the seat covers, however there is a site in Germany that sells Cabriolet interiors including the door cards for about 400 bucks the caveat is that they are covers that go over your existing covers so you have to have them repaired and the foam redone prior to getting a good fit and a lasting fit is also determined by removing the piping on the sides of the seats so that it doesn't puncture the new when it breaks…
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks Brian the side cards can stay as they are for that price, i think the seat repair will be a job when its on the road as i can drive it to wherever.Briano1234 said
The foam isn't that expensive, and if only one seat is the issue you may want to take it to a upholstery shop and get a guestimate on the cost of getting a replacement cover made.

When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was called the whip. The term has now been generalised to classify any automobile.

I'm in the process of getting some quotes for my Cabi interior. I have the same issue with the driver's seat, so I'll let you know what they quote me.

Newton Commercial make exact copies of the door (£109+ VAT)and rear cards (£68.74 +VAT) or the 4 piece set for £165. Their really good quality, take a look.

Hey, I'm currently repairing my interior on my MK1 cab and in desperate need of new foam for driver seat. Has anyone else bought from werk34?
I repaired mine with some foam' the previous owner had a go by the looks of it and made a terrible job. I used foam and contact adhesive. then recovered with a cover from eBay for £25. I'm really impressed with it

The number on the base of the seat is 191 881 375D. I've seen one on Werk34 but it's 881 191 375D. I wonder if it's the same. Lol

Is there a "how to" guide still accessible on here? I have seen a few links, but they just redirect me to this site's homepage.
Honestly, is replacing the foam base something that a very novice person can do? Thinking it could be a weekend project?
I am also thinking about cleaning my seat covers while I have them out. I found a "how to" guide on here, but it looks like there are a ton of steps, which overwhelms me a bit. Is it easier than it looks? I just don't want to do something that I can't put back together!
Finally, is at all possible to gently wash and dry the seat covers in a washer and dryer? Not trying to be lazy, but as I Iive in London, I don't have the space / tools to do a power wash and let ithe covers dry somewhere for a few days!
Thanks!

I've heard some folk putting seat covers through the wash, but I didn't fancy that as mine have a vinyl on the back (not sure about cabby seats) and as they are nearly 40 years old, I didn't want them disintegrating.
