Loose door handles

Post

Hi all,

The outside door handles on my Clipper are loose. They still work, but you have to push them against the car for the latching mechanism to work properly. There's about 5mm movement when you pull them outwards.

In an attempt to fix I checked the small outer screw under the plastic strip on the outside, and the larger bolt just above the latch inside the door frame - both are tight.

I'm guessing it's part of the door handle it's self that's. Before I go ahead and remove the door handles themselves is there anything I need to know?

Many thanks in advance.

The fixing above the latch inside the door frame should be a Philips head screw not a bolt, has it been bodged?

Seeing as you have found the 2 fittings and they aren't seized or rounded off its easy to remove and have a look see if there's a problem.

Yep sorry you're right - I mean screw, not bolt

Cheers, I'll take a look

Remove the handles and see if they are broken where the large screw on the inside of the door is located.

This is where most fail.

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
