HELP CANT FIND PAINT CODE

Hi im new on this site, iv just got my self a mk1 cab gti to restor its a 86 year. I cant find the paint code the sticker is missing and i ant and got a service book to find out. I think its mars red not 100% sure its an orange red. i post some pics up if some knows the colour and the paint code.

The sticker should be on the brace piece beween the rear strut towers.

Mars red is 'orangy' in colour but would have thought by '86 they were using Tornado Red as per MKII tin tops? Or poss Flash Red :dontknow:

thanks for the reply mate the sticker is faded cant make it out, is there any were else on the car wich might have the paint code on

It wont be Tornado or Flash red, as they never used Tonado on mk1`s to my knowledge, Tornado was used on later mk2`s and Rallyes 8)  Flash red was only used on Corrados, Jettas/Vento and mk1 sportlines and probably a few others too, polos etc but certainly only post 88 cars

That looks like Mars red 2 to me, slightly red`er than mars red 1 which was vitually orange!

to be 100% you need to find the paint code either deciphre the sticker or contact VW they should be able to tell you over the phone, but there is no gaurantee its not been painted before  so could be a different shade of red all together :roll:
