Post

Hi there people! This might be back stupid question but as the front windscreen is beaded so does this mean you can take it out and put back in again by yourself relatively easily? Thanks for any help

Yes but beware if old it will be a bit brittle. Mine came out fine but did crack where it already had a stone chip.

Get inside and push it out with your feet. Spread the load and it'll just pop past the seam.

I have the same problem, lots of  water coming in through the front of the car, I took the dash out and its comeing in through the seal. is it best to renew the seal? thanks and sorry for jumping in!!

i would personally cut the rubber, the price of a new seal is cheaper than a screen. and they normally go in better than they come out.

Thanks for the replies, yea I was going to fit a new seal and the glass is all chip free etc! So all I have to do is remove the beading and then push the window out? As simple as that? I'd there am easier way where I'm putting less pressure on the screen? Can I cut the seal while the windows still in and try do it that way?

Yes cut the seal from the outside (all the way round) and then push the screen out.

For re-fitting it make sure you get the tool to help you put the beading in - it's very very difficult without it! I've not done a golf before, but I have helped a friend change the screen on a mini which fit in the same way, and the beading was a total pain - this was before we realised there was even a tool for it (a long time ago!)
