My mirror doesn't stay in place. It rotates and tilts loosely around the point circled:
Is there a replacement part that goes in there?
Also, one of the cables is damaged and it doesn't tilt in that axis. Is it better just to eBay a replacement?

Whip

Noun - Car
When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was called the whip. The term has now been generalised to classify any automobile.

The mirror has a press fit on the pivot, they can loosen over time, and the mirror can get out of place.
I would suspect that if the cables are knackered, that you would be better off getting a new to you.
I have a how-to in the archive section on the mirror…Shows you how they are made.

Colour-coded, that is the flag plastic is painted the same as the body?
That was a standard feature on 90's.

If you turn it upside down off the car you can see the lower keeper that is pressed on to the pivot shaft, there is the same inside the flag part.

Yeah, painted same colour as the body. Maybe it's just a UK expression.
I'll take a look at mirror when I get it back from guy doing the rack.
