Clipper correct interior? Gauges?

Post

While tinkering at the weekend. The plate with the hood switch popped up and underneath had holes that looked like 3 gauges should go in it?

Looked on google and looks like there should be 3 gauges there.

My question is, was this for only gti models? If I put 3 gauges back in where is the hood switch meant to go?

Can't work out if this is a mod previous has done or is a mod for the clipper version.

It's for the GTI tintop, there's just a blanking plate over the holes for the other models.
One console fits all so to speak.

If you went down the road of 3 gauges which is not easy at all but possible and expensive.
Where would you relocate the electric roof switch?  O_o

Personally I think that's more time, money and effort for what it's worth and some.
Yeah they look cool but who looks at them when driving.
A set of working gauges, with all the necessary wiring if you can find them will set you back a packet!  O_o

I was thinking the same re switch location tbh as no real obvious place. I just didn't know what the standard was on the clipper, whether the previous owner had blanked it off or that's how it was meant to be.

Now you've confirmed one for all, just going to leave it - you're right it will no doubt cost a fortune.

What was a 'doesn't need much doing car' already has a shopping list of things that I'd like to do. Damn

As Mike points out the moulding for the console is with 3 holes. So you could put gauges in there, however on later cars switch plates were fitted for power windows and roof.  Often folks complain that its been  butchered but they were cut out like that at the factory honest!

I have seen on other euro cabbies the switch is located to the choke opening using a choke plate that takes the switch.

Under the cover panel looks a bit hacked so would probably need to replace that too. It's made it's way down to the bottom the to do list.

Got the round blanking plug from VW heritage so at least it'll look tidy now

Ps that hole where you relocated the switch too. Do you know where I can get the blanking plate for that hole? Can't see it on the normal places.
