cavity wax

Post

Hi there,

As I'm at work and can't see my car, do I have to drill my sills to inject cavity wax or are there already capped holes there to do the job?

Only reason I ask is I've got a couple tins of Dinitrol that I'm going to spray in all the nooks and crannys… But it got me thinking about the sills?

So, who's done it and how did you go about it? ;)

Ah I've answered my own question.

I found two holes under the sill cover.

Take care as if you are refering to the slotted holes, they are also used as rain drains to allow water out.

They are similar to the puckers found on the front door skins at the back edge of the door.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

There should be no holes in the sill underneath the sill cover so I guess some one else has drilled them in?
There is a big plastic cover towards the front of the inner sill which you can remove to spray in and depending on what car you have you, 2 door cars you remove the rear side card and you can spray along the rear of the sill and along the rear of the front section of the sill.
There should be no need to drill any extra holes as VW has already made lots of holes for doing this sort of job.
There is also holes which have bungs in them in the rear and front wheel arches.

The 2 holes I'm talking about look factory to me. Its a swallowtail. I'll grab a photo or 2 if I remember.

Pretty sure the ally sill trim has never been off until I took it off… But maybe not?

Of course, now you mention the bungs it's all become clear!

Kind of irrelevant now, the sills are well and truely cavity waxed.  :|
