That's the badger! I shall make one in a "Blue Peter" style, where's some sticky backed plastic and a Fairy Liquid bottle…..

Go to a breakers, parts yard. Find a Dub, and either get the rubber band metal strap that holds the "Vacuum Balls" Egg Crate to the hood, or the ones that hold the Jack bits in to the Trunk.
Remove the two metal ends.
Clean and wash it well.
I have a how to link in the archive section, You can use anything that is a loop of material, but I suggest that you lube the (oil) the bar a wee bit.
Seat Back Release Pull Replacement. | Volkswagen Owners Club Forum
The original was a vinyl loop that doesn't wear well and snaps…right when you need it to release., then you have to squirrel your self to release it from the inside, or bend your seat back to grab that blooody dang release bracket.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Not many breakers in the UK unfortunately, good ol' scrap yards have had the government step in & do their usual H&S stuff.. maybe try somebody on here breaking a car on the parts/breaking section… seriously, those pull loops are so hard to get (don't want to post negativity… )

Go to a Hardware store and get a Velcro Loop Wire strap about a half inch wide and 8 inches long, loop it through, and use the velcro to hook it. That is what I did, until I found the "Egg Crate", or Spare Tire Rubbers worked well.

I've ordered one from Hong Kong with a 1cm width and 482mm perimeter size as a tester, then I will have some size parameters to play with.
I'm not in a rush as I have the tattered remains of a possibly original nylon loop in place, which is working (ish).

I have re read this and I appear to have lost a post, I have used a 3D printer drive belt, as above, 1cm wide x 482 mm perimeter, it is 80mm longer than the original (ish) so 40mm in actual length as it's a loop. It does the job a treat, looks reasonably professional and with be a right sod to break!
Unfortunately I fitted it, fitted the wind diffuser, raised the roof, then thought about pictures……Muppet!
