Cabby rear boot cards.

Post

How to remove them?

Right then, I bought a pair on 'Fifft' smoked rear lights and wanted to fit them today but.

The rear cards in the boot, will the clips come out will they heck!  :P
I've not had to change a bulb yet thank God because I'd of taken a 4lb lump hammer to those cards by now.

So how do I get them out and (cheeky Q.)
where can I buy new original clips?

It must be simple because you need to change to bulbs from time to time but :ocf_emoticons__withstupid:

Help me please kind people!  :$

You seem to have different clips to what's fitted to my car but looking at those fitted you push the centre pin through the clip so it falls out then pull the clip out.
I bought some new clips from vw last month, went in and they looked it up for me, they was about 30p ish each. I'll try and find my receipt and get the part number and price.
like this as they are the same as the mk2 golf but don't buy them from the eBay link as they are expensive!

Mike the cards are interesting to find.

I got a mint one from Funk for the passenger side.

There's clips to get I will try and find the website for you.

U should cover the cards with accoustic carpet like I did, what a difference it makes and u can also do the rear card that's on the back of the rear bench.

buy direct from VW:
801867299  01C - 0.37+VAT

the correct clips are simple push fit type, not the centre pin type you have. If you have any mk2 golf in scrappy they use the same clips for the side cards and boot trim

Thanks John (as always).

So regarding getting the old clips out.
Do you just lever them out because mine just don't want to budge, I'm already marking the cards around the clips as you can see from the pic above.

There has to be an easy way, if only because you want to replace a dead bulb but darn if I know what it is!  O_o

Just take a thin screwdriver or nail and push the pin in the middle of the clip through.

John the center pin one on each side is not causing the problem it's these Guys.

If you look closely, they have no center pin and getting a flat blade screwdriver behind them is marking the cards badly and they still won't budge!  :P

Mike, these are the same fitting for my knee bar, you'll need to push something small and thin (ahem) onto the centre cross this will push out of the back of the clip allowing you to prise out the main part, they're a right fiddly pain but not too bad once you've got the hang of them.

Mike its just black or grey accoustic carpeting and carpet spray adhesive.

Simply, cut the carpet/matting to the size of the card plus a couple of inches spare right round, then spray the adhesive on the card and the carpet, leae for a minute and then carefully place the carpet onto the face of the card.
I then left it to go off for 30 mins and then turned it over and cut the extra and got it all neat to fold over the back of the card.

Then sprayed the edge of the back of the card and the extra hem of carpet and then folded it onto the rear of the card.

Then made holes where the clips go through and put them in.

I do not put the wee circular centres back into the clips when the cards are back in place, as they stay in place without them.

Al in the boot, including a new floor carpet as well, cost me £50ish iirc.

Wouldn't mind do my cards like that what a difference a bit of carpet makes

I got it through eBay I think and it's just the matting they use for boot amp installs etc.

This is a link to the company I bought from, adhesive included and they do different colours and sizes.
