flywheel options on an aaz

Post

Hi,

basically my question is what options do i have for a single mass flywheel that will work with the AAZ engine and an o2a gearbox?

I was going to run a VR6 clutch but wasn't sure if a VR6 or G60 flywheel would bolt up to the AAZ engine.
Having searched for a AAZ flywheel i get a lot of dual mass flywheels popping up.

I have a AAZ conversion in my caddy which the previous owner had done.

The current gearbox is a 5 speed from a petrol engine so its revs like hell in 5th and the clutch is slipping as soon as a reasonable amount of boost is introduced which is making overtaking or even doing up some hills with a load in the back difficult.

Im looking to swap the box out with an ASD o2a box but i think ill need to swap the flywheel as the current box is a standard mk1 straight bolt in box (rod shift and cable clutch) so i am assuming the flywheel has been changed for it to work with a suitable clutch for the gearbox.

Thanks, Chris

The flywheel bolt hole spacing is the same on lots of petrol engines, and i believe larger capacity abf engines use a diesel crank, so guess they are the same spacing. So would assume your plan of abf/g60 flywheel with vr6 clutch assy is ok and will be good with the o2a box..  Although ive never tried it..
