Mk1 GTI cabby 1.8 T conversion
Hi all,
I'm new here and wondering if someone can help…
I've installed an AUM 1.8 T to my 85 Cabby and I'm having some starting issues.
The loom has be integrated by DUBNUTZ and by the way have done a nice job at it too.
The problem I'm having is the car starts but dies after a couple of seconds… I have a spark and my injectors are firing, I've checked the timing and I've checked my ignition barrel but still won't run.
At the beginning the car wouldn't start at all but that turned out to be the crank shaft sensor.
The engine is from mk4 golf donor car, that I still have and it was running/ driving fine.
I'm completely stuck and don't know where to go from here.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

So today I decided to remove one spark plug and start the car on 3 cylinders to see what was going on with the spark. The car started as normal but after it died I lost all spark. In order for the car to start again I have to turn the key off and back on again.
Help is much appreciated.

Sorry but can be much help as not up on these modern engines with computers and sensors but is there a diagnostic port you can plug a laptop in and get a report from that?

Hi,
yep, I had the ecu decoded and immo removed along with a remap. I've been told, if the immo was still engaged there would be a trouble code on the ecu but nothing.
I am thinking of having the ecu checked but I don't have any recommendation.

Also something else to add…
If I remove all 4 spark plugs from the engine and leave them in there coils, then crank the engine. all 4 will spark regardless the length of time I'm cranking the engine. but when the plugs are in the engine the car will start, die and the spark dies along with it.
its almost as if another sensor kick in to cut the engine out or spark/coils.
