i have bought a gti 1600 from 1980, it was metallic purper when i bought it and just got it resprayed. I told the guys to take the bbs kit off, when the car came back they had left it because they said it was a factory fitter kit. I want to get the car back in original state. Should it stay or should it go? And If it stays i would probably have to get bbs rims as well, then which ones. And If it Goes i will put the tarantula ones on.

All about your personal taste really, it's your car and you have to look at it all the time. My opinion though, is as long as it's not hiding any rust keep it on, back in the time lots of Mk1s had body kits and the BBS one was the most tasteful (well the round arch version anyway).
It's very rare to see one now, so I say if it's in good condition keep it on - very nostalgic. But yes does need a set of BBS RA's to set it off - quite often used to be painted white if your car was white as well, bit then you may need white socks and a Don Johnson Miami Vice white jacket to match as well!

as above its up to you. they weren't factory fit though, but were dealer fit once they arrived in the country. no way to tell if they were fitted from new or if added later though, unless you have all the paperwork supplied to the owner from new
