Advice on mk 1 heater please

Hello all. I need some advice please. Im looking at a car that has no heater at all. Everything was removed. Its got a corrado engine in it. Is replacing the heater  a massive expensive job if so roughly how much? Should i put an original heater back in or are there now better options.
Many thanks
Joe

Mk 1 golf heater advice please

Looks like he has used the water pipe entrance for wiring, and the opening for the heater has been welded closed, not impossible to reverse, but you won't know what else has been removed until you start.

No. I guess not thanks. God knows why you would remove a heater. I dont want to buy something that will cost me loads to make a useable car straight away and a heaters a must. Hopefully fitting one wont cost a fortune

Yes not easy to put a heater back in, I guess it's a summer car!

Scuttle panel cut out so you will need to weld one back in, cut a hole for the heater/blower, fit new blower/fan and heater, attach water hoses to heater and controls etc, then find a scuttle cover (Silly money of £100 ish for a bit of plastic) to stop the rain getting into the heater and car via the holes in the bonnet. You need to put the scuttle panel back in or you will get all the smells/fumes from the engine coming into the car.

The other option is fit a fan car heater which runs of the ciggy lighter but it won't be as good as the original.

You can see my blower/heater in the plastic cage at the top of the picture.

Thankyou. Used a electric heater in my 61 beetle. Useless. Anyone considering an electric heater dont bother. Ill fit an original but budget for it. Just wondered whether a later heater was needed as it has a corrado engine and or whether later heaters are better and a good option to go for.

The standard heater is very good in my car and I can't really see any benefit in fitting a later heater. Make no differance to the heater which engine is fitted as the heater just has water going into it, a valve to stop or reduce the amount of water getting in and water coming out, The fan is bolted onto the top to blow the air in past the heater matrix then along the vents.
Have you had a look at what's left? You maybe luckly and they have just removed the fan and left the heater matrix etc in the car.

Sorry havent been on here for a while. I believe every part of the heater was removed. Im now aware thanks to yourselves that this can obviously be reversed and the heater put back in. I guess I just have to prepare for the worse and that it could be a pain and cost a fair bit anything better than that is a bonus.
Still looking for my Mk 1. Ive got an immaculate 84 Bmw 635csi manual if anyone wants a swap. I miss my Vws although the Mk1 will be my first watercooled.

Are you after a tin top or cabriolet?
A restoration project or fully restored car, if you are after a cabriolet you may find it will still be in original condition as VW got a lot better a rust prevention with all the plastic wheel arch lines and body kits along the sills.
Cabriolet cheaper to buy as lots more around compared to tin tops.
